Rob is an experienced and qualified Project Manager and Team Lead. Organisations often report enjoying having him as part of their team as he brings great competence along with a very collaborative approach to his work, always bringing a very positive atmosphere along with him.
With a previous career as an IT engineer working with Active Directory, Exchange and Windows server platforms in general, he went on to manage IT Support Teams, both customer facing front line and moving on to those with full back end Infrastructure responsibilities. From there Rob developed further into a qualified Project Manager, running full projects in his role and studying various approaches and is PRINCE2 and AGILE certified. Past projects include large organisation total Infrastructure and Data Centre refresh as well as specific system application upgrades.

Assignment description: Sirius is an international reinsurance company with offices around the world with main IT systems based in Stockholm. Rob was contacted & recommended for a role within Sirius to take over as the Coordinator for the Infrastructure team, reporting to the Operations Manager with responsibility to manage work for all internal IT infrastructure areas. The Team areas consist of Network, Storage, Backup, Database, Citrix Desktop, Server Provisioning, Virtualisation, Messaging, Monitoring & Maintenance and overall Data Centre management. The role developed into the full Infrastructure Manager role in 2018.
All new installs and business system updates were handled as projects or major tasks and run by this role - either to be run as projects or be coordinated with resources as smaller activities. The day to day Operations work was also managed and split between the Infrastructure team and another, smaller, Helpdesk team.
Within the specific PM function previous projects run include:
• Infrastructure Refresh. Run over an 18 month intense period: complete new network, storage, backup system and server hardware including full migration of business systems to two newly sourced Data Centers (one of two Project Managers).
• US Server Migration. Virtualisation of US based servers & migration to Sweden.
• Full DR Site Testing. IT Site shutdown and Disaster Recovery testing, including user business system testing.
• Application software deliveries and installation for various business systems, both developed in-house and via 3rd party partners.

Assignment description: The opportunity to work as a consultant came from multiple businesses who needed an advisor to work with them installing new systems and to support existing IT infrastructure. Consultancy for customers ranging from startup companies to organisations with many users and diverse systems. As well as expanding support knowledge into multiple IT areas it also allowed the use of project management experience developed from previous roles.

Assignment description: The WinTel team comprised of 3rd line engineers with responsibility to maintain and develop all customer Windows platforms. All current versions of Windows were covered including technologies such as Exchange, IIS and AV. Working with applications that overlap such as VMWare was also common.
The role developed team organisation and work prioritisation skills along with managing project deliverables for the many external customers hosted within the Steria data centres.

Assignment description: Contracted as the single contact to overhaul the internal IT used within the organisation of approx. 700 users. The project focused on replacing a Novell installation and creating an efficient Windows 2003 Active Directory structure that can be easily used & supported by available support staff. All installation and migration was achieved without problems and documentation handed over successfully.

Senior Microsoft Engineer - Responsible for developing & supporting a wide range of client systems housed in the data centres. COLT built, developed and provided 24 x 7 support for systems housed in secure data centres throughout London. Engineers built all MS product platforms, such as AD servers, Exchange, SQL clusters and Web servers.

Assignment description: Initially employed to develop support systems for the new Daily Mail website project the remit immediately widened to include project management for all hardware and networking systems. All equipment was successfully implemented and site launched even after one supplier admitted an inability to install some equipment on the existing network.
After a successful launch for the site the role took on the management of all internal IT support. Managing a team of 4 I helped co-ordinate problem solving for any issues with all MS Windows 2000, NT, 95 & 98 systems & network.
