Assignment Details

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, gather and analyze data for identifying root cause for welding issues in the departments supported.
  • Establish routings, pay standards, layouts, weld tooling, weldments costs, OMS, and control plans for revisions to current operations and/or running changes for current product.
  • Identify and implement cost reduction, quality, safety and ergonomic improvement ideas for welding operations
  • Work with PDM, SAP, Wplanner/MPM, OMS, and Creo to perform engineering functions.
  • Design cell layouts to improve material flow and material presentation
  • Participate in annual factory capacity planning and productivity activities for departments.
  • Assist in development of baseline data for new wage performance pay plans

What Skills You Need:

  • Work experience or formal education in Welding Engineering
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting Fanuc robotic welding applications
  • Knowledge of manufacturing weld processes, tooling and facilities
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with union employees, peer engineers and supervisors
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • General understanding of Creo, Autocad or other modeling software
  • Knowledge of engineering tools, systems and databases (SAP, JDAAT, etc.)

  • Experience with line and process design, material presentation, cycles of imbalance and visual management tools
  • Experience with shop floor manufacturing and incentive pay systems such as Continuous Improvement Pay Plan (CIPP).
  • Work experience with the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP)
  • Experience with Lincoln & Miller MIG welding equipment and resistance welding

Education (or equivalent work experience):

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline with an emphasis on welding
