Assignment Details
Role Overview:
- The role will support Client's Chicago headquarters by conducting analyses and developing automation to support customer and operational groups at Client.
- Operational components include flight and taxi times, air traffic control, aircraft maintenance and routing, ground time, staffing, airport congestion and construction, and fuel utilization.
- The Analyst will have strong technical and analytical background, and be able to deliver results with limited supervision.
- The person must have experience with performance reporting, along with automating insights from large volumes of data and be able to clearly communicate relevant triggers and recommendations.
Responsibilities:
- Extract and analyze data from relational databases and reporting systems - both those maintained by Client and those developed by external vendors such as Sabre and the U.S. Department of Transportation
- Proactively identify problems and opportunities and perform root cause analysis/diagnosis leading to significant business impact
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of reports, analyses, dashboards to drive key business decisions
- Identify best practices in reporting and analyses including analysis, validation and documentation
- Create and modify daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports as needed; take ownership of reporting structure and metrics in order to more clearly and effectively communicate relevant information to decision-makers and day-to-day operations employees at headquarters, in field offices, and at airports
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or in a quantitative discipline like Applied Mathematics, Statistics required
Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge in querying and manipulating relational databases via Teradata SQL Assistant, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server required
- Expertise in one of Python/Java is required
- Expertise in VB.NET, HTML, and CSS required
- Knowledge of Big Data ecosystem is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required
- Experience with Node.js is a plus
- Must be fluent in English (written and spoken)
Experience:
- 3+ years development/analysis experience
- 1+ year(s) in Aviation or Transportation industries preferred
- Candidates with previous Airlines experience highly preferred
