The project objective is to address the Sustainable Development Goals issued by United Nations within the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the eradication of poverty and hunger, the protection and restoration of natural systems, and reducing inequality. In particular, the initiative is focused on addressing the goal "Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources". The project originates from the need for traceability of all the operations carried out in the supply chain and the contrast of illegal activities with respect to protected species, ecosystems a risk, food fraud, etc. For this reasons, the project implements the blockchain registration and certification of the fish chain and the processing industry on worldwide scale for all the members of the consortium. Big data and analytics technologies are also used for analysis and correlation of data from heterogeneous IT systems and fishing fleets on the seas.
