Summary
I am a data scientist working currently at Telia Finland Oyj. I analyse various data sets, develop
data model as well as visualization such as dashboard views and reports. I have expertise in
lead automation projects and creating more efficient, automated processes in service
operations. My role includes developing and implementing big data approaches and machine
learning technologies for practical applications. I have acted as product owner in Safe and have
been supporting process development and ITIL framework. In enterprise architecture
development I've applied the TOGAF framework and in software development I know the
DevOps principles.
With my company SecretsInData, I am interested in short term projects on data analysis and
visualization basically on any kind of database or data set, be it spatial, time series or financial.
I excel in data modelling, am proficient in machine learning techniques and in creating
optimized models and dashboards.
Previously in my career I was a research scientist at the Earth Observation Unit of the Finnish
Meteorological Institute (FMI). I worked as a planetary scientist with an education of a plasma
physicist. My expertise includes plasma modeling of non-magnetized bodies of the Solar
System, including Titan, Pluto and Europa. I also studied auroras and radiation belt electrons
and created realtime web-based visualizations for a radiation belt radiation model.
I received my Ph.D. in theoretical physics in 2008 and afterwards worked several years in the
NASA Cassini project studying and analyzing Titan data. My expertise is on mathematical
modelling, numerical simulations and data analysis of particle instruments. I am also
experienced in several visualization techniques, including animations and webpage
applications. Professionally, I acted as a reviewer for several scientific journals and served on
NASA review panels. My scientific activity has resulted in 19 refereed papers in scientific
journals. Public outreach of science continues to be one of my professional interests and I have
regularly visited schools and given numerous public lectures and media interviews.
