In connection with the development of new CPU for AXE was needed more resources, particularly within the test area. There was also a need for several tools for the whole area of test and verification like test automation, regression test, handling error reports, from both internal and external parties, patches etc. Ulf developed a large number of test cases most of which was implemented as automatic testing. 

Ulf was in charge for developing a proprietary case management system for bug reports and patches for AXE. The system was built with proprietary database in IBM's VM / CMS operating system and was used worldwide with over 10 000 users monthly. System was closed 1999 due to that the operating system didn’t manage year 2000.

The recommendation from Ulf was to put down this initiative as synergies were small in relation to costs. The initiative was discontinued.

Management needed the support of a number of investigations.

Ulf was asked to specify a cost estimate of the impact of the enterprise-wide change project that was in the start-up phase. The assignment included everything from how the project would be staffed and replacement staff for these, education and the introduction of new working methods for the entire company, effects on mail management, electronic document scanning and fiche handling mm.

Ulf took out an analysis of the AFA would be affected on the basis of being able to handle multiple currencies, in particular in connection with the introduction of the euro.

Ulf also carried out a project with a study on information needs generally within the company, and the actuaries in particular, ensure information management, procedures, responsibilities and opportunities, and not least the cost of an implementation project. This was implemented later as a Data Warehouse in the overall project.

Investigations were received very positively and the results were used and implemented in the concerned units and projects.

HSB Bank was at a stage where they needed to do if two parts of their Internet and add one more part, each part for its unique customer base.

Three new web sites were built including an urgent change of authorization systems. Using techniques were Extenda case

Ulf was the Project Management for the mission which included changes and additions to the operational banking system, changes and additions in the case management system, emergency replacement of public access system, new web platform and new web sites, changes and additions of procedures and processes.

The big challenge in this was the coordination of requirements, supply, test and implementation as only websites, procedures and processes developed within the bank, the other components delivered by a total of 9 different suppliers.

The project was implemented with full satisfaction of the customer according to plan with only two week’s delay.

As part of the preparation for a more competitive market Vattenfall Sweden needed better and faster access to information for decision making, both for marketing and for specific product or other business decisions.

The solution was built up based on a generic DW-model in Oracle with Informatica as ETL tools.

Ulf conducted a feasibility study for the Vattenfall Sweden's various operational systems could be integrated into a new Data Warehouse with shared customer and product concepts.

The feasibility study was accepted and Ulf got the assignment as Project Management and to staff, mainly by consultants, an implementation project to implement this work.

Ulf, after he booted up and staffed the project with about 10 resources, left the project early to go to China and adopt a daughter. The role as father to a new child could not be combined with such a large and important project leadership assignments. The project was implemented by other project management to customer satisfaction.

Ticket Travel Group

Ticket had the need to get control of information about their business from a customer perspective to increase sales. The fundamental question was: "Who buys what, when?".

The solution was built based on deliveries from a new sales support systems, operational systems, external vendors, manual control information to a NRT (Near Real Time) Data Warehouse that is used operationally in the sales process. The solution is used DB400, I-Series (AS400), SQL Server, proprietary ETL engine in C # and QlikView analytics.

On behalf of the CEO as responsible Ulf to prepare a feasibility study with a view to continuously answer the above question. The feasibility study showed the need for change in both attitudes at the marketing stage as pure systemic changes to improve the quality of the information. The work resulted in a plan was developed to create a new sales support system with new procedures for the sellers, build a NRT (Near Real Time) Data Warehouse and shop for an analysis tool primarily for marketing.

Ulf was commissioned to project manage this task as well, depending on the then technical requirements, the new sales support system, where the built-in business rules into operational systems are more comprehensive than earlier Supplied became larger than the original plan.

Data Warehouse built into SQL Server environment and where it analyzes revealed weaknesses in the operating systems and it therefore took about 2 years before it became fully operational, both for marketing but also operational for the sellers when the information were integrated into the new sales support system.

The result of the project has been very successful and is a big part of Ticket's success in the market and it is still used today for analysis, both for direct and mass market advertising, but also as a basis for media when the Ticket as the agent responsible for a wide average of sales on both the Swedish and Norwegian markets. 

Ulf continues to be an advisor and coordinates management of this mission.

Ericsson wanted to increase the use of their shared data warehouse, SAP BW, which was made impossible when they had two corresponding SAP R3 installations, CBS headquarters and mouse for the marketing companies, which set of master data was not shared. The customer had the need to find a solution to a common set of master data.

A variety of initial initiatives around SAP MDM for the supply of SAP BW and the use of SAP extractors.

Ulf analyzed master data in both operational systems and took out a solution proposal and a plan for the introduction of common master data for both systems, primarily on the basis that this would be done in SAP BW as the implications of the operational systems perceived to be too large. Master data was in the form of lightweight clean code / plain tables to the considerably more complex structures around the customers, counterparties and products.

Solution proposal received good acceptance but the initiative was discontinued when it was decided that Ericsson would merge the two SAP R3 installations. However, could the analysis carried out successfully used in the process of integration of the two SAP R3 installations.

The management of Ericsson had a strong need of various forms of analyzes and forecasts of telecom sector development based on geography, demographics, actors, operators, technology, terminals, etc. This work was both time consuming and had a large dependency on person to collect and compile the information. The customer wanted this mission to find a solution where the basic information was collected to a place to where quality secure, streamline and improve the dissemination of information as well as remove strong personal dependencies

The solution was realized in SAP BW with Informatica as ETL tools. The sources were varied in the form of Web services, flat files, the data from publishing company in the form of Excel spreadsheets. These processes were first in incoming delivery area using including MS Access.

Ulf initial role was implementing a who described the information needs of analysts, information management plan for the various information providers / sources (UN and CIA (geography), the Economist and the UN (demographics) Reuters (economy), Pyramid, EMC (telecom) and how the information would be made available for the analysts.

Ulf was the Project Management to drive the development of a prototype for this. The big challenge in this was the MDM, master data management, to bring together a homogeneous amount of information from the different sources representation of basic data. The prototype had a good acceptance from analysts had a large element of manual sourcing of data and but a good basis for further work. The pilot covered about 3 man-years of work.

Ulf had continued confidence that the Project Management the mission to drive the development of a production-rate solution with the larger part of the automation of information security. . The solution comprised about 7 man-years of work

The solution was implemented as the basis of the analysts' work and saved about 1-3 month duration of the fundraising work of the basic information, and raised the quality of information used in the analyzes.

2007-08 - 2011-06

SEB had since 2004 made a number of different applications to the Financial Supervisory Authority to gain access to the more generous capital adequacy requirements under the Basel 2 rules. This meant the bank to define the processes, regulations, risk models and adapt their systems for compliance. The area is still continuously being developed and the bank needed a leading resource for driving both the further development and management.

The solution was based on gathering information from the bank's operating systems, multiple external sources, manual control information, into the Bank DW. Then processed information in the large number of steps and then compiled for internal and external reporting, feedback to the operational systems and feed back to the business of the various measures. The solution is used, among other things Easytrieve, Cobol, Informatica, SAS, DB2, Oracle.

Ulf primary role was to hand to coordinate all stakeholders ( > 10 speech units) requirements and operating priorities, as well as the Project Management operate further development- which mandates. The assignments were of different sizes, from any 10 numbers of hours to several thousand hours of mission. Overall the mission was over 100 contact surfaces on business side and in IT.

Ulf was instrumental in managing establish, according BOMM, Bank solution, which took about a year and a half.

Ulf has in this mission had roles such as project management, operations and Requirement Analyst, Information Analyst, System Architect, designer and tester where Ulf along with the business, often in workshop form, analyzed the current situation, interpreted the rules work, took out analyzes and on the basis of this detailed and implemented solutions.

Delivery of solutions to approximately 1-10 cases per month, many of which had major impact on the Bank's results and ensured the bank's compliance.

Ulf established Basel 2 solution management at both the operational as the IT side.

Nordnet is a relatively young bank and has built up many of their analysis routines in many small “islands”. Now that the bank is growing it’s no longer viable and the requirements for examinations are constantly increasing. Nordnet needed a Project Management / architect / information analyst to build a new BI / DW solution.

The solution is based on gathering information from the bank's operating system, external sources, manual control information, into the bank's DW. Then switch a number of different BI tools where DW was used as a source.

Ulf has in this assignment had roles such as Project Management, Operations and Requirement Analyst, Information Analyst, System Architect, Modeller, Designer and Tester where Ulf along with the business, often in workshop form, analyzed the current situation, interpreting requirements, produced analyzes and on the basis of this detailed and implemented solutions

Two consultants were hired to try to Clarifying the Business and technical solution for upgrading the Capital Adequacy calculation, CAD, process.

Put on hold for clarification of Assignment due to feedback from Assignees.

The assignment has been in a form of restart in 2018 with other resources

ECB put up a new regulation, AnaCredit, requiring all banks within Euro area, to monthly supply detailed information, around 100 attributes, for all loans and credits for non-humans, to each country’s National Bank which then is gathered at ECB in Frankfurt. Swedish National Bank joined the regulation which is called KRITA. 

Swedbank needed some that could interpret the KRITA Requirement and translate them into detailed data and system requirement’s 

Ulf actively participated as Swedbank’s representative in Bankföreningen and Riksbanken to question, clarify and detail KRITA requirements.

After a turbulent time with three different architectures it ended up with a new Group Data Warehouse solution based upon an upgraded Baltic solution with a total of more than 100 different sources.

Business Requirement specialist to interpret KRITA requirement’s into detailed data and structure requirements to Swedbank’s operational systems to deliver data to Group Data Warehouse.

Swedbank’s representative in Bankföreningen and in work counsel in Riksbanken 

Over 100 operational sources of information have been handled with many dependencies between them. Were technical solutions could not provide required data other solutions and Business processes was adjusted.

During development Ulf was a driving party in verification of requirements of all from basic data and calculations on a very detailed level were SQL was the primary tool.

First delivery to Riksbanken happened in April 2018

Ica Gruppen has for some time used the Cloudera Platform for their Analytics. They now want to take the next step for setting up the platform to be more efficient for the Operating Companies and to use information cross companies to more efficient marketing activities.

For that “Best Practice” in different areas has to be defined where Ulf’s assignment is within Information Management.

By interviewing resourses from Operating Companies about how they work with Information today, what work good, weak point, platform capabilities defining best way forward for Ica..

This has resulted in a process description of the different stages in using the platform in an efficient way, gateway checklist for Entry, Execution and Exit for each stage in the process and least but not last descriptions how how and what to manage in MetaData along with defining monitoring and actions of data content and quality
