Violent conflicts in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya, etc., and increasing exoduses from other countries with dangerous
environments (Iran, Pakistan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Mali, Mauritania, and other North and West African countries) have resulted in
an increase of risky migrations across the Mediterranean and Aegean seas, to Italy and Greece and onward through the Balkans. One of the challenges concerning refugees in transition is how to give them better and quicker access to information about various services available to them by MSF. This case focuses on supporting refugees with information around health,
safety and other relevant services available at their arrival in southern Europe and throughout their onward journey.
Claes-Philip conducted a filed study in southern europe and the balcans and worked with the teams in the field to assess and evaluate and design how MSF can improve the information flow to the refugees in transition. Claes-Philip developed a
prototype for management of information and delivered a case report that influenced how MSF manage and provide informa-
tion, internally within the organization, between organizations / volounteer groups, to governments and to the refugees.

Claes-Philip has, in a short time, become a critical resource within the New IKEA homeplanner initiative. This is due to his
" technical skills as well as his ability to work in a result oriented and independent way. His has taken great responsibility and showed that he can coordinate several persons from different departments to ensure result. Claes-Philip also has taken

Claes-Philip has very effectively played several key roles in th e project. During the initial phases, he conducted an
" extensive review and assessment of available options for the electronic transmission of surveillance data over simple
GSM telephone networks such as exists in Central African Republ ic. He lead effectively the PAP developmental teams, and
his report was made into a substantial reference document that has guided our selection and development of hard- and software for the project and as well made him co-author of a Lancet Global Health publication. Claes-Philip has been
available to lead in-person discussions and workshops with the staff in Switzerland, and as well for cooperation with the
WHO team in Lyon. During the experimental and now the implement ation phase, Claes-Philip has been fully available to help solve the multiple technical challenges that have continously arisen.
Claes-Philip has an excellent knowledge of a broad array of Information Technology issues, ranging from the hardware
requirements, software, infrastructure field context challenges, to communication technologies. He has made this
knowledge understandable to the teams, including the field staff. He responds quickly and clearly to queries - we can
count on him to provide advice when ever it is needed.

The collaboration between the consultant and MSF Switzerland has worked very well from our point of view. The MSF
Operational Center Switzerland is very satisfied with the contri bution of Claes-Philip as a consultant to the PAP project.
In fact, as we prepare our continuous work plan, we propose to extend his contract so as to benefit from his ongoing
