Post Summary

This role will provide an essential web design, development and project co-ordination support for academic, administrative and support areas who rely on the website as a primary communications tool to promote Trinity courses, research and services online.

 

 

Standard Duties and Responsibilities of the Post

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, build and rollout of various microsites using existing web templates and components. This will include the integration of data feeds from Trinity’s enterprise systems and other sources. The role also includes supporting the web author community across the University and will require some project management for websites and initiatives as needed.

 

 

Person Specification

  • Implementation and support for the rollout of Trinity’s web templates across the University for faculties, schools, services and support area websites. Note that the current publishing tool is Dreamweaver, however, this will also include working with the new Web Content Management System (WCMS), once implemented.
  • Support and help for the web author community (450+ users) for website handovers and website design and development queries. Undertake rotational web designer on duty work for the Trinity website, providing digital and web design support to the community.
  • Working as part of the Digital & Web team, will collaborate on the design and development of new responsive and mobile optimised website designs that meet user needs. Troubleshoot and fix issues relating to web templates, layouts, css and styling with particular emphasis on maintaining the integrity and overall design of the website.
  • Website integrations for Trinity staff profiles, course information and other data feeds as needed.
  • Ensure compliance for all website work completed, with web standards and Trinity’s web policies including web accessibility and Irish Language requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining bespoke websites, functionality and layouts using new and existing technologies. This includes maintaining and migrating microsites that use Wordpress.
  • Assist in specialised web workshops and give presentations to assist the web author community.
  • Project management for the implementation of microsites and various web projects as needed.
  • Undertake other duties assigned by line manager.

 


 

Knowledge & Experience (Essential & Desirable)

  • 3rd Level qualification, ideally in a relevant discipline for web, digital media (E)
  • A minimum of three years relevant post-qualification professional experience (E)
  • Experience in building responsive websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript (E)
  • Experience with producing and implementing websites that adhere to best practice for Web Standards and Web Accessibility Guidelines (E)
  • Experience of PHP Scripting, MySQL (E)
  • Wordpress setup, customisation and development (E)
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite software e.g. dreamweaver, photoshop, illustrator (E)
  • Excellent communication skills and presentation skills (E)
  • Experience of working as part of a team and working towards team goals (E)
  • Experience of communicating and collaborating with end users and project stakeholders (E)
  • Experience with using and implementing Web Content Management Systems (D)
  • SASS, Angular (D)
  • APIs (e.g. soap, rest) (D)
  • JSON, XML (D)
  • Comfortable with UX principles & specifications (D)
