Job Summary:

The Network Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video and wireless network services. The Engineer assists in designing, implementing and maintaining the local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. The Network Engineer participates in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This role also serves as an escalation resource to the IT Service Desk and other members of the Network team when major system issues are encountered.

Job Description

Implement and maintain the network infrastructure required to support the strategies developed by the Infrastructure leadership team

  •  Create and maintain documentation
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery
  •  Plan and deploy company LANs, WANs, WLANs, border networks, and VPN, including, but not limited to, routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers/access points, WAN optimizers, UPS's, and other network infrastructure-related hardware
  • Conduct research on new products
  • Implement equipment and software upgrades of network switches, routers, firewalls and other network devices
  •  Configure networks and monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Support network connectivity effort of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, and other network appliances
  •  Coordinate and participate in key process improvements as they relate to the network environments
  • Coordinate and collaborate with server engineering, business application and desktop support functions to ensure availability, reliability and scalability of corporate networks to meet business demands
  • Assist in the development of policies, procedures and technologies to ensure network security
  •  Monitor help desk database for network availability issues; prioritize and respond to help desk tickets.
  •  Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports
  •  Implement and refine network environment monitoring tools and respond to various levels of alerts as required
  •  Implement and maintain security for all network hardware and the software and data hosted within these systems
  •  Provide technical guidance to global team members
  •  Adhere to cGMP controlled policies and procedures as well as IT departmental standards pertaining to computer and network usage.
  • Mentor and train Network Administrators with regard to their daily activities

REQUIREMENTS

  •  Minimum of three years of network engineering experience working in a cross functional environment
  •  Proven experience with LAN, WAN and Wireless LAN design and implementation.
  •  Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
  • strong, hands-on technical knowledge of Cisco and/or Juniper network devices
  •  Familiarity with Unified Communications
  • Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards and excellent hardware troubleshooting experience.
  •  Competence with testing tools and procedures for data circuits; voice circuit competency a plus.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  •  strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  •  Highly self-motivated and directed, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  •  Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.

  • On-call availability; ability to work off hours in support of Moves, Adds, and Changes (MACs) as needed.

Advanced knowledge of at least two of the following:

  •  ShoreTel VoIP Systems - Juniper Wireless equipment
  • Cisco VoIP Systems - Palo Alto VPN & Firewalls
  • Cisco Routers & Switches - Riverbed devices
  •  Cisco Wireless equipment - Network security
  • Juniper switches - NetScout

Qualifications:

  • Experience level: Manager
  • Minimum 4 years of experience
  • Education: Bachelors
