Resumen
An experienced Technology Director, I specialise in optimising the quality and productivity delivered by large cross-functional teams
(particularly agile mobile/web/backend development). I achieve
this through the collaborative engagement of management, clients,
senior engineers and other stakeholders to most efficiently achieve
business objectives through the implementation and maintenance of best practices, including:
☑ Agile/lean software development practices
☑ Highly automated CI/CD toolchains
☑ Modular development and containerisation
☑ Quality management tools and frameworks
☑ Self-maintaining management dashboards and workflows
☑ Matrix organisational structures
☑ Outsourcing
My experience comes from working on both the vendor side
developing business critical solutions for major brands (London
Heathrow Airport, Virgin, MCH Art Basel), and the customer side
(Cathay Pacific Airways, Telstra), managing outsourced projects
working with procurement and IT to select and contract vendors.

My role was to build and deliver the core mobile software development

As the DMI organisation grew and the size and number of projects expanded, I
worked with the global software delivery team to be able to:
✪ Maintain a lean organisation (with minimal resources on the bench)
✪ Scale quickly (regardless of internal resource availability) to start new
projects without delay
✪ Maintain a high level of velocity
✪ Maintain IP
✪ Maintain quality
✪ Maintain knowledge of our developments
✪ Provide flexibility to efficiently insource/outsource projects according to resource availability
✪ Avoid/minimise timezone/calendar challenges
2013-11 - 2015-08
In the delivery of enterprise web/mobile applications, my role was to support
the Project Management team with training and mentorship to optimise:
✪ Customer satisfaction
✪ Employee retention
✪ Issue management / reduce escalations
Additionally, I was Program Manager for a number of complex multi-tiered
mobile/web architecture solutions to multinational companies, including MCH

3rd party content providers and managing 3rd party development partners.

Telstra is Australia's largest telecommunications company which builds and operates telecommunications networks and markets voice, mobile, internet
access, pay television and other entertainment products and services.
Sensis was Telstra's wholly owned advertising and directories arm, with many
online directory assets, including Yellow Pages and White Pages
At Sensis, I was engaged on a contract basis on a variety of projects:
- Redevelopment of the corporate intranet on a strategic J2EE CMS platform
from an unsupported (Documentum) platform, including the decentralisation of content management, engaging 60+ editors from the business in CMS training
and manual migration of 1,000+ pages of content.
- Redevelopment of Citysearch (now True Local http://www.truelocal.com.au/),
which was Australia's premiere comprehensive entertainment site with over
100,000 page impressions per day, providing directory information and reviews
on 10's of thousands of Restaurants, Bars & Clubs, Music, Movies, TV and the Arts across all Australia capital cities. Content was managed through a shared J2EE CMS platform and is sourced from a combination of automated
content feeds, internal editorial staff and site user input. As PM, I delivered
improved usage and revenue through refocusing of content on the target
market, redevelopment of site navigation principles, a total site redesign,
enablement of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), restructuring of editorial
processes to maximise site usage and the transition of the IT delivery process
from a waterfall approach to an agile lifecycle.
- Crisis management of a project designed to deliver the re-platforming of White Pages Online (WPOL) (http://www.whitepages.com.au), Australia's
premiere online directory of more than eight million residents, businesses and government departments in Australia. My engagement involved identification and confirmation of critical architectural issues, resulting in the ultimate
dissolution of the project.

ANZ.com was an initiative by ANZ to service the SME market, which launched the ANZ MarketPlace / BizSite as a joint venture ecommerce portal.
Phil managed the design and delivery of a technically challenging solution
requiring highly secure communications and service redundancy in a highly
distributed service oriented architecture (RDS/HTTP, SSL, 3DES, etc). Given
that the solution stored customer credit card details and undertook automated
credit card transactions on behalf of ANZ, he successfully presented and achieved sign-off of security design to ANZ's Legal, Risk, Global Information
Security and IT departments. He successfully managed the input of a distributed development including ANZ marketing, application developers from MultiEmedia.com and 3rd party vendor network support and hosting providers.
