For this project, we used Aviatrix to maintain and deploy a network in Microsoft Azure. Aviatrix is a cloud-based networking platform that simplifies and automates the process of building and managing hybrid cloud networks.

 

We used Aviatrix to deploy and manage the network. This involved monitoring the network for any issues or security threats, and making any necessary updates or changes to the network configuration.

 

My role in the project was creating and configuring the network infrastructure in Azure using the Aviatrix controller/Terraform. This could include tasks such as creating VNETs, subnets, and security groups, as well as configuring routes and gateways.

 

I also had responsibility for monitoring the network for any issues or security threats, and making any necessary updates or changes to the network configuration using the Aviatrix controller and Aviatrix CoPilot.

The purpose of this migration project is to move servers from VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix to Azure while minimizing disruptions to business operations and maximizing the benefits of the Azure platform. This can include reducing costs, improving reliability and security.

 

 Assessed the current on-premises environments, including both VMware and Hyper-V, and identified goals for migrating them to MLZ (Migration landing zone) zones, both in Europe, the US, and Asia (excluding China). This includes gathering information about servers, networks, and data.

    Developed a plan for the migration process, including a timeline and a list of tasks. Considered factors such as the size and complexity of the workloads, dependencies between servers, and availability requirements for the migrated servers. This includes communication between service owners, support managers, and the team supporting the applications.

    Identified any challenges or risks that may arise during the migration process and planned preparations to minimize these risks.

    Validation: After the migration, it is important to validate that the migrated workloads and data are functioning as expected in the Azure environment. This involves testing the migrated servers, applications, and data to ensure they are working correctly.

 

I was involved in migrating servers from VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix to Azure. This may have involved using tools such as Azure Migrate to move workloads and data to the Azure cloud.

 

In addition to performing the actual server migration, I was responsible for preparing the on-premises environment for migration, including gathering information about servers, networks, and data, and setting up a test environment in Azure to validate the migration process.

 

After the migration was completed, I was responsible for coordinating, along with the service owner, to validate that the migrated workloads and data were functioning as expected in the Azure environment, and to optimize the Azure environment. I created documentation and training materials, provided ongoing support and maintenance, and monitored the Azure environment for any issues or opportunities for improvements.
