The public Åland's joint IT company that manages IT operation, support, administration and runs IT-related and digitization projects in the public sector.
The assignment included expert support for the company's management, modernization of the province's and municipalities' IT environments, IT operations and cyber security.
I was also for 2 months the leader of the network team and was the responsible project manager for brand new network expansion to all the archipelago ports and ships in the region.

As the group's IT manager, I was part of the group management and had overall responsibility for the group's IT operation and security with personnel, consultant and budget responsibility. I also participated in the group's development program for team leaders and was a mentor in their mentoring program.
The group expanded strongly globally during the period with the expansion or new construction of factories, the opening of new sales offices and company acquisitions.
In addition to the daily IT operation, I was responsible for the change work to coordinate all the different units' IT resources into a modern coordinated IT organization. The change work had a major focus on security and green IT operations and included the physical relocation of server halls as well as the establishment of a completely new WAN with new modernized LANs according to group standards out in the units. The assignment also included preliminary studies on virtualization, use of cloud services and Industry 4.0.
The assignment coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, which created very big challenges in the change work and in quickly establishing the necessary infrastructure and processes for the staff who have to work remotely.
