Professional Experience
2021-02 - Present
Significant projects relating to data migration:
- Lead consultant for the Universal Robots Atlassian Cloud migration
Analyzing and planning for the migration of a 900 user On-premise Jira software and Confluence instance to Atlassian Cloud, along with addons and maintaining links to code repositories.
The project was greenlit, and is currently in the preparation phase.
- Lead consultant on ISS A/S AWS migration
A project spearheaded by ISS to migrate their hosting provider from IT Relations to AWS across several business units, Aety was contracted to migrate ISS' Atlassian products and migrate the databases from MySQL to PostgreSQL.
Plans were drawn up and two methods were selected, one involving a low-downtime data transfer via a script to map database tables, and the other being Atlassian’s suggested data import from an XML backup.
The project was canceled due to internal difficulties within ISS' IT department to provide a useable AWS environment.
Nevertheless, the both methods were tested with a large scale dataset, with the XML backup handling the amount of data perfectly well, and had the project not been canceled, it was expected that migrating the production data with an XML backup would have been done within time, budget and maintenance windows.
- Lead consultant for Styrelsen for Dataforsyning og Infrastruktur (SDFI) data migration
In the context of consolidating Jira instances, SDFI needed to migrate Jira projects and Jira data across instances.
The Jira projects were optimized, harmonized and migrated, and a step by step plan was drawn up to migrate Jira data in such a manner to preserve internal links and links used by other vendors. The plan was then used by my colleague to migrate the data successfully.
- Lead consultant for the Confluence Cloud migration for Cryptomathic
Cryptomathic’s On-premise Confluence instance needed to be moved to Atlassian Cloud, with the added difficulty of Aety not having access to the instance, and only having access to backup data hosted on a separate server, and Cryptomathic remaining on Jira Server.
Data protection rules were paramount, and preservation of the original dataset and its links crucial.
In the end, the Confluence instance on Atlassian Cloud was migrated with no unwanted user data on Cloud, links to Jira Server preserved, all Confluence macro data preserved (which at the time was not handled by Atlassian’s migration tool) and redirections individual Confluence pages on-premise made to their respective pages on Cloud.
