The system Owner role included being technically responsible for the suite of financial systems used by Preem, making sure all was fit for daily operations. In order to successfully ensure that expectations were met the role included all steps, from support creating viable and secure technical demands to find and secure resources all the way to planning and implementing the changes in a controlled way. Several of these business demands were implemented as projects, in which Göran acted as project manager. One example is when a new Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse solution was needed, Göran managed it from demand to design to the implementation of the from the ground up new solution. When Preem decided to move to a new ERP system to handle all their operations Göran was the appointed technical system owner in the handover process. Besides being a focal point leading and directing the go live, the role also included creating new ways of working to leverage the strengths of the new system

At SR Göran realized two major projects. First, to replace the system monitoring the full broadcasting process, from ’the back of the mixer table in the studio, to the inside of the antenna’. This included doing a current state analysis, deciding what actions needed and implementing those, for all broadcasting locations before being able to roll out the new system. The other project goal was to build and implement a new in house fiber optic back bone, to replace the old copper wiring. This was done inline, with no down time needed for any system needed to maintain broadcasting capabilities, using both internal and external resources coordinating their activities.

During his years at Academedia the company group grew from 4 companies with some 60 schools to 25 companies with just over 400 schools. Throughout this very quick paced expansion Göran was the acting COO and driving the centralization of the IT delivery. The main task was to maintain the operational status of SOS Alarm’s main system for the national emergency number 112. This included both proactive work aimed at extending system stability and availability, as well as reactive troubleshooting of errors occurring despite all efforts. There were also a number of projects where Göran participated as the technical project manager. The projects spanned from implementing a new solution aimed to enhance security for those exposed to threats or danger in their daily work, another to build a new platform where all emergency organizations can share map information when a higher level of coordination is needed.

At the customer, the internal relations between business and IT had gone sour, and Göran was called in to design and implement new ways of working for the support team. To make both sides agree to the plan several workshops were held to align relevant needs and expectations, which then were used to negotiate a series of achievable SLA’s to support the business needs. To further ease tensions a ticket system was designed and implemented using a sharepoint site, to enhance visibility to the ticket flow
